Experimental Process

EMSA using purified AlgR demonstrated binding to the algD promoter region, revealing that there were at least two potential binding sites in the region from 288 to 562 bp upstream of the algD start site. DNase I footprinting was used localize these two 14 bp binding sites, which contain a common CCGTTCGTC sequence.

Gene Regulation

Regulated genes for each binding site are displayed below. Gene regulation diagrams show binding sites, positively-regulated genes, negatively-regulated genes, both positively and negatively regulated genes, genes with unspecified type of regulation. For each indvidual site, experimental techniques used to determine the site are also given.
