Experimental Process

A consensus search identified the putative binding site. GUS assays of PhoB variable strains grown in phosphate-limited media demonstrated strong expression of the binding site in the PhoB+ strain but not the PhoB- strain. EMSA identified strong binding of PhoB to the putative site.
