Experimental Process

Zur-regulated genes were identified by DNA microarray analysis. Zur-mediated expression regulation was confirmed by qRT-PCR experiments. Promoter regions of the identified genes were scanned for the presence of a Zur box by alignments using ClustalW. Also, upstream regions were searched for conserved motifs with the GIBBS Motif Sampler. EMSAs were performed to confirm that Zur binds to in silico - predicted motifs.

Gene Regulation

Regulated genes for each binding site are displayed below. Gene regulation diagrams show binding sites, positively-regulated genes, negatively-regulated genes, both positively and negatively regulated genes, genes with unspecified type of regulation. For each indvidual site, experimental techniques used to determine the site are also given.
