Experimental Process

S1 nuclease experiments identified that zur regulates the expression of rpmG2p, rpmB2p, rpmF2p, and znuA. EMSA confirmed that Zur bound specifically to the promoter regions of these genes. DNase I footprinting determined the sequences bound by Zur in each promoter. Multiple sequence alignment of there identified Zur binding sites revealed homology among them.
